The really little chef or the really large ogre?

My kids got a real kick out of the little mouse in the movie Ratatouille, they like to say “heeee-issss-aaaa-cheeeef….”, in that sort of sing-song way that kids do and then laugh!

This was a cute-ish movie, I don’t know that I really enjoyed it as much as my husband and kids seemed to, but it was not too bad. The storyline of a mouse cooking was not as icky as I thought it would be, the mouse is sort of cute and is pretty OCD about being clean, so I guess that sort of made up for the fact that he was a mouse! There is a strong lesson about following one’s dreams and doing what you believe, even if everyone else is against you, but I don’t know if my kids really grasp that… they just could not get over the fact that the mouse-isss-aaaa-cheeeef!

On the other hand, Shrek the Thirdwhich was supposed to be the “best Shrek ever”, was sadly a let down. Neither I, nor my husband, nor my kids really enjoyed it. I don’t know, but I found it was just not funny!

The whole movie was sort of a continuation into the lives of Fiona and Shrek, in that they are poised to take over reign of Far Far Away, while expecting a baby, and defending the kingdom against Prince Charming… all the while Shrek has some really vivid fears about being a dad. I don’t know, but I just did not really get the movie, and I found it was actually un-entertaining!
