The Spiderwick Chronicles was a cute (in a sort of disturbing way) movie and I really enjoyed it. My kids are too young, except that I did watch it with my 2 year old, who, was strangely intrigued by the interesting and bizarre characters.
It was like “Lord of the Rings” for kids, at least that’s how I would describe it! It was definitely too scary for my 4 and 5 year old, but it was very fascinating and, for a kids movie, I found it quite entertaining.

Transformers is without doubt the most frequently watched dvd that I own! I never watched the original as a child (or adult) so I cannot compare this new version to that, although my husband is not impressed with this version (being a huge fan of the original). My kids, however, are totally in love with the movie and the transformers, so in love in fact, that they “spot” the different transformers while we’re on the road and point them out… to me frequently!

In the 22nd century, Detroit is the hot spot for all manner of techno-geeks, industrialists and all things robotic. It’s where the future is, and where money is being made thanks to the city’s thriving robotics industry. National Treasure, I think, is sort of like Indiana Jones, but with waaay more gadgets! I like those kind of adventure movies, you know, the totally unrealistic kinds with amusing, mis-adventure-ish type characters whom, despite many “sure-death” experiences, and many many chases, end up, of course, heroes! I got to say that I can watch pretty much any movie that has half a plot and some slightly amusing jokes, but if you’re not that type… you may want to skip this movie!
Actually I thought the first one was pretty good, although, I am not sure I really remember what even happened, but it was entertaining at the time that I watched it! This one, however, was somewhat hard to follow and a bit strange, but still, I don’t regret the hour and a half that I spent watching it! If you’re the indiana-jones-unrealistic-adventure loving type, then I think you’ll like it, if you’re the I-need-an-actual-stimulating-plot type, stay far away!

My kids got a real kick out of the little mouse in the movie Ratatouille
, they like to say “heeee-issss-aaaa-cheeeef….”, in that sort of sing-song way that kids do and then laugh!
This was a cute-ish movie, I don’t know that I really enjoyed it as much as my husband and kids seemed to, but it was not too bad. The storyline of a mouse cooking was not as icky as I thought it would be, the mouse is sort of cute and is pretty OCD about being clean, so I guess that sort of made up for the fact that he was a mouse! There is a strong lesson about following one’s dreams and doing what you believe, even if everyone else is against you, but I don’t know if my kids really grasp that… they just could not get over the fact that the mouse-isss-aaaa-cheeeef!

On the other hand, Shrek the Third
which was supposed to be the “best Shrek ever”, was sadly a let down. Neither I, nor my husband, nor my kids really enjoyed it. I don’t know, but I found it was just not funny!
The whole movie was sort of a continuation into the lives of Fiona and Shrek, in that they are poised to take over reign of Far Far Away, while expecting a baby, and defending the kingdom against Prince Charming… all the while Shrek has some really vivid fears about being a dad. I don’t know, but I just did not really get the movie, and I found it was actually un-entertaining!

Meet the Robinsons
I must say that I loved this movie! It’s actually rare that I say that about any movie, and I don’t think that I have ever said that about a Disney children’s movie. It’s surely not a ‘classic’, but I am one of those people who get somewhat bored with ‘classic’ movies.
The movie itself was a little insane and the characters were odd and silly, but still completely fun. I was very fond of the little orphan boy who was searching for a family, he was eccentric, but sweet and lovable, I found myself really wanting him to find a family that would love him.
I don’t think it’s a movie for everyone, but I do think that kids would enjoy the somewhat outrageous plot, and zany, but charming characters, and I think that the story is entertaining enough adults even.
