Day 3, Week 1

You know that I am a fake Indian and as such I make fake Indian food! smile

Actually, I thought this was goat (we got it for Eid-ul-adha ), but by the time I was ready to cook it, I realized it was beef, and although I had never cooked beef in this particular way, or have not even eaten beef like this before either, I thought… nothing’s gonna stop me now!

Ingredients:
Beef
Patak’s Madras Curry

green onions
garlic
tomatoes
zucchini
onions

Guidelines:

Pre-heat a small amount of oil on medium-high heat, in a saucepan, then add chopped green onions, onions and garlic, let it cook for about 1 min
Add in the curry paste (follow the directions on the bottle for the amount of curry needed), cook for about 2 mins more

Add in the chopped tomatoes and zucchini, and mix well, let that cook for about 5 mins
Add in the beef, mix well, turn down the heat to medium
The beef should cook in about 1.5 to 2 hours, add water as needed for the beef to cook

The kids were not too fond of it, so for them, I added corn and butter to the rice, and served with carrots… still healthy! smile

Served with rice and your favourite salad.

Salamaat,
you are making me hungry. I am making goat biriyani (yes I know very unorthodox…) can’t wait for it to be ready smile

Looks delicious Shazia smile Every now and then i crave indian food. I’m used to it from my childhood because most of the mosque functions and families we visited would serve indian/pakistani food. But the curries are my favorite, especially lamb, with Roti.

Hello, I recently went to a Spanish restaurant and tasted some amazing iberico ham, I still do not understand how is iberico ham different from paleta.
Thank you.

Hello,
Iberico ham, also called jamon iberico or jamon de pata negra is produced from the rear legs of the iberian black pig.
A similar product obtained from the front legs -shoulder-, of the same animal is usually called paleta iberica or paletilla iberica. Paletillas can have the same quality as jamon since they come from the same animal but they are smaller and usually slightly cheaper.

There are three main types of iberico hams and shoulders: Bellota or Montanera, Recebo and Cebo (from highest to lowest quality).
The qualities are determined by several factors: the breed of the animal, its diet, how it was raised and how it was processed.
Furthermore, some areas have Special Designation of Origin, protecting both their animals and procedures.
For more information about iberico ham visit BuyJamon.com your online source for jamon iberico de bellota, pata negra and other Spanish hams.
