Officially Four!
How did this…

Become this…

So fast? Almost overnight it seems. But it was 4 years ago that I had my first son.
The one that stole everybody’s heart when he was born.
Only my first son has those great photos, which I would creatively layout in sets, and emailed to everyone that we knew, every month!
There is something about a first born child that just captures a mother’s heart and takes a special place in it. And in turn, their love is tremendous, their caring is unmatched, and their personality seems to be dictated by this stately position that they hold.
But for now, the storm that is a 4 year old has totally engulfed my sweet little boy. No more are the wonderful hugs, the precious kisses, and the heart-breaking pouts… these days I welcome loud shrieks as he rushes past me.
His love, affection, and concern for his brothers is surpassed only by his rage when they do not comply with his demands!
His best friend is his daddy, which he will tell to anyone, except if daddy does not listen to him, to which the 4 year old responds with “I don’t like you anymore, you go to another family!”, and then comes to me in total frustration and says “I don’t like daddy! You are my best friend now, ok?”
He has the complete adoration and respect of his two brothers. The 2 year old is contented to be his shadow (for now at least), and the baby loves to look at him and laugh at his ‘silly tricks’, as he calls it. But that still does not stop him from saying things like “You have to stop that non-sonce! That is just bad-parenting!” to the baby for him to stop vomiting and spitting up. Or, things like “You are making me frustrate!” when the 2 year old does something to displease him.
The 4 year old is loving school, he loves to learn, and cannot wait until he can read. He enjoys his movies, laughs out loud at some of the jokes, and can rattle out storylines. Influenced by his daddy, he is a big racing fan, and some days will declare that he would like to be a race car driver when he grows up. He is irresistible when he does his prayers, and says “God is right here, in my heart”.
He’s definitely one of a kind, and I think I’ll keep him… at least for now! ![]()
