Talk to me & the pink hijab

by shaz on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 10:30 PM
read more about: 6 year olds. talk to me.

So, umm, hi! Happy Friday! Is it just me or is everyone really distracted? Who can think of something other than the next American president? And while we’re on the subject, who thinks that everyone in the rest of the world should also get to vote in the American elections??

Anyway, I usually wear grey, brown, blue or black – I don’t know why because I am totally attracted to color – but I loved this pink hijab, bought it about 2 years ago and never wore it even once! One day I decided to wear it to work, and I asked my fashion consultant, aka my 6 year old, for his thoughts on how it looked. Now, my 6 year old has a keen interest in fashion… he will straight up tell me when I look totally absurd, and he has particular items of clothing that he likes and don’t like – on me!

My 6 year old said that he liked the pink hijab, but he didn’t think that I should wear it to work, maybe it would be better if I had to go to “somebody’s house” or something like that! What do you think?

Thoughts from Specs

Ooh, its pretty.

I must say, your son has an awesome sense of fashion! Impressive Yes, I would agree with him there: its a wear-to-someone’s-house kinda hijab; unless you have an important event at the office which requires something this pretty!

Loooving the hijab!

Thoughts from sf

Add brown to the list of your *usual* colours and that makes my usual attire. I think you can wear it to work coz we tend to use *dark/sad* looking colours in the cold season. A little bit of colour would look good, ie if you are upto it wink

Thoughts from Organica

OMG! I love the hijab. I have a lot of pink in my wordrobe, I confess!

Is the scarf made in Turkey? I bought a couple of similar ones last month. I’ll send you pics, inshAllah.

Hello from Halifax!

Well, you know me Miss; I’m almost always in colour - and in fact at the very minute, I am in PINK!
I also love this hijab and would be blown away if you came to the office wearing it one day - now blown away in a GOOD way!
Of course, I also understand that this would not be everyone’s cup of tea.
BUT if the mood ever strikes on a work-day, I can think of no reason NOT to wear it!

Stay well and enjoy your Friday and weekend!

specs.. my son is so very blunt its not even funny - everyone says he gets that from me! lol but he does now fashion and he’s very particular about this own clothes, actually so is the 4 year old… the 4 year old is VERY into his own appearance and fashion choices! they are also very into clothes from MEXX!! mexx.ca

can you imagine if i had a girl???

sf - winter is totally depressing right? and i just completely fall into the “darkness”. ppl i work with often ask if it’s “religious” that i don’t wear any colour!

organica… i think it is from turkey! i have 4 of them - white, black, brown… and i have no idea how the pink came into my ownership, altho i do think it’s beautiful. the girl i bought it from told me that i wore waay too much black and made me buy the pink! hahah

i would LOVE to see yours! i can imagine what your collection looks like! wink

Susan, i hope you enjoy your time out there! you’ll be missed of course. yeah, i’ll see how it goes with the pink! i’m wear grey today - AGAIN - in case you were wondering! smile

Thoughts from mand

My 8yo is just like that too. At four he wouldn’t wear his warm hat cos he’d spiked his hair for the school disco. And as he ages it’s intensifying.  ;0)

Generally i don’t ‘do’ pink but this is gorgeous. Can’t see why you wouldn’t wear it to work. Unless you work in a funeral parlour or similar.

Loving this blog btw. (I happen to have friends in both Trinidad and Canada… funny how that happens.)

Thoughts from Meredith Kitts

I say go for the pink!  I think that it is a nice neutral pink (not too flamboyant) and I"m sure it will suit your colouring….well, at least if your boys have a similar colouring.  I don’t see any reason that you should limit yourself to black, white and brown!

Thoughts from shaz

mand, i don’t think that i “do” pink either - i actually don’t even have pink clothes, i thought that if i was wearing all black i could wear this just to add the color! thanks for coming by… i loved your intro post!!

Meredith - ok! if i do wear it, i’m going to post a pic for you guys. re black and brown - i know, it’s just that i always end up buying clothes that are plain… i wear grey like it’s the only color in the universe!

Thoughts from mand

Definitely wear it, looking forward to seeing the pic.

Was it you that asked me where i’m from and did i lose that message somewhere? (oops.) Yes, i’m in the UK, in Wiltshire.

Thoughts from vev from teak furniture

I really like it! The color looks great.

Thoughts from shaz

well no, i didn’t but i’m glad you shared it! smile

Thoughts from mand

Heck, then someone is wondering why i didn’t reply to them.  ;0)
