read more about:
islam.
In Islam, mothers have a super-special place… heaven lies at our feet!
You can clearly see in this lovely & eloquent rendition by Yusuf Islam, that the place of a mother in Islam is great… a position of honor, of respect, of importance. Our status as mothers is 3 times that of a father!
God, in all his wisdom certainly knows that we deserve such a high distinction, and if for no other reason, because our kids say “mommy” about 3 times more than they say “daddy”.
Thoughts from Mona
we go through a lot to attain this status, don’t you think?
my respect and love for my mom has multiplied tenfold since i got pregnant. i’m sure after the labor/delivery experience, it’s going to be a hundredfold. subhanAllah.

You know, that’s so interesting. When I first read that quote, I didn’t see either of the two interpretations that were given in that article. I took it to mean that I see paradise every time I look at the children around my feet. Which I was very much moved by. I will remember that and pray on it often. Thank you.
Thoughts from shaz
Mona, same goes for me! I appreciate my mom sooooooooo much more now!!
Cakes, oh, your way is interesting as well, but what it really means is that mothers do so much for her kids that the path to heaven is being kind to our mothers. There is alot saying and verses in the quran that explains it more…
you can read some here
Salaam,
High distinction comes with Super high responsibilities;)Subhannallah:)
Thoughts from Maliha
Salamaat,
It really says “Momma’s rock everywhere in the world”
I like your interpretation Cakes, it’s so moving too.
Thoughts from Suroor
Paradise is when a mother embraces a child and she/he lies against her chest. Paradise for a child and a mother is thus with each other.
And somewhere the horny daddy comes in too
Thanks for the reminder, dear Shaz!

Um Ibrahim, Maliha, Suroor, you are all so right. thanks! moms do rock!
one can’t really argue with this.
moms really do rock!

welcome saqi… yes, it is true, and for some reason, I think girls only really appreciate our mothers when we become mothers ourselves… but I think guys always have a special love and appreciation for their mothers… is that true or is it just me?
