fake indian.
Did I mention that I was born in Trinidad? Yeah. But my ancestry is Indian, from like, India, although I really have no idea from what region. Now, it’s been more than 300 years since my Indian forefathers settled in Trinidad, so I think of myself only as Trini, but I mean, I am still ethnically Indian, right? Well, not according to some East Indians that I meet, who respond with “oh… so you are not a ‘real’ Indian!”

i’m guju too
I think those taco toppings look so yum! I have never had anyone show up a week early. I have gone to a doctors appointment a week early. I still don’t know if it was my fault or the receptionist.

This is a lovely post! I love those bangles. Glad to know about your mixed roots. And it talks about ME! Yippie!
Our roots are not clearly “black or white” unlike how people imagine all “shaded” people as one bunch and all “white” as an exclusive group. Let’s be biryani! At least its yummy.
Oh, Shaz… so you are not a ‘real’ Indian?!

Salaam!! I’m glad I’m not the only “fake Indian” out there. My mother is from South Africa where there is a large population of Indians. She’s Indian But she was born and raised in S.A. And her mother is part native and dutch. Sooo, then theres me who is mixed with all that plus my father who’s black and other things. So If anyone understands your biryani dilemma its me. I’m glad i stumbled across you website.
