I strongly believe that when you start to lose focus and direction in life, a journey is really one of the best ways to get back that sense of balance and structure, which was the main reason that I decided that this was the year I needed to experience SXSW!

When I left Toronto, it looked like this…

...and when I landed in Dallas, it looked like this…

hmmm…

However, Austin was beautiful while I was there, and I had an excellent time at the conference.

I am not a Dooce fan, but I thought that the panel Heather did with Maggie was one of the best ones I attended! It was well thought out and presented, and the content was sincere and helpful.

(sorry for the horrible pic)

Wendy and Darren Rowse were part of a panel on making money online, and I learnt quite a few things from that session, which is good, especially since I basically killed my money-making-web-development-business for a few months! Affiliate programs were discussed a fair amount, so I think I might be trying that out a little more but only with products that I actually like and think will be beneficial to you all.

One of the most anticipated sessions, an interview with Mark Zuckerberg totally sucked, actually, totally-painful-to-watch is probably a better way to describe it!

Remember the sock-camera-case, well here is the proof…

updated to add: this is NOT me! smile she’s the girl with the sock!!

In other news, I don’t know if I look really looked that young, but every time I told anyone that I had 3 kids, I had to immediately follow it up with my age, because I got the “what??? did you start having kids when you were 13??” look!

When I left, I felt much more centered and relaxed, and since I love sunrises and sunsets, especially when I can experience either from the ocean or a high altitude, I’ll leave you with this…

Thoughts from Jennifer

You do look young!  And GORGEOUS!!  Really!

I bet you had fun while there.  I’m going to BlogHer, I hope I’ll learn something (but really I’m just going to socialize.)

Thoughts from shaz

Thanks Jennifer… on behalf of Nicole, who’s in that photo! smile

I guess it was poor placement on my part, I didn’t actually take a picture of myself…

Thoughts from Wendy Piersall

It was SO GREAT finally meeting you! I wish we got more time to hang out together - maybe I can convince you to come to another conference or two this year and we can actually sit down for a meal and have a ‘real’ conversation! smile
