Me: you know, there is a bat on your underwear. and he doesn’t like pee pee either! so you know you have to tell me when you feel it tickle, ok?
Almost 3 year old: ok! I will tell you so the bat would not come out and bite me!
Disclaimer: I’m only milking this ‘technique’ because he seems totally undisturbed by the concept!
Later on…
Almost 3 year old: I need to pee pee!!
Me: OK!!!
then in the toilet…
Almost 3 year old: mommy, I need to poo poo too
Me: ok, do it then
Almost 3 year old: there’s no more
Me: yes, I hear it, there’s more… he’s saying “I want to come out!”
Almost 3 year old: yeah? like a mommy one and a daddy one?
Me: ummmm, yeah ok, sure… they all want to come out!!
Almost 3 year old: yeah!!! the mommy one and daddy one is out!! now there’s a little, teeney, tiny one in there, like a little baby one….
At least it’s not on the floor!

LOL!This is funny. I cringe whenever I start thinking about potty-training. With my oldest(now 6),we tried it when she was about 2,at first she didn’t want to go but the trick was to take her in the whenever anyone went it just to see how it all worked. I have 1 full year before I start that again with my youngest. Thank God!!!I remember how stressful it was. Hang in there, when he is ready, he will get in the program.

oh Faryal, I am so happy for you! alhamdulillah.
I think the problem here is that we are struggling to be consistent! Sometimes we put him in diapers, sometimes we don’t, poor kid is so confused! But we’ve been sort of consistently on underwear since I wrote this post, and he’s only wet himself once, so inshaAllah things are looking up.
