Sort of back up

read more about: blogging.

I am now running on ExpressionEngine. But I am not completely fixed up yet, so please excuse any ‘weirdness’ that you encounter!

You will notice that the design is exactly the same – that is on purpose, because I actually am rather fond of it, but the categories are different and I haven’t edited all my articles yet to fit them into the appropriate category, so I will be doing that slowly. You will also notice that the design for the cooking and nifty sections are not the same and don’t really match my look – that is because they are still using the default ExpressionEngine theme, and I have slight modifications planned for those sections, so I am leaving it as-is until I have some time to change it.

I have stream-lined all my feeds, you can pick the one that works best for you from my list of RSS options, there is also a helpful video to get your educated on RSS feeds! As always, if you prefer, you may receive my articles via email too (for everything that is published on Adventures in Motherhood).

I anticipate that it might be about 2 weeks until I am operating properly, please be patient. smile

I am going to resume blogging though, I have some posts lined up – including a belated Canada Day one (And happy 4th to my American friends!) and a couple of yummy recipes!

Also, please note, my info@adventures-in-motherhood.com email is currently NOT working! Sorry for any inconvenience, I can be reached at info@shaziamistry.com for now.

Thoughts from Umm Yasmin

OOoohoh lovely - why are you using Expression Engine? Any particular reason?

Thoughts from shaz

Salaam Umm Yasmin,

I was using expression engine for nisaa.ca for about a year, then when I did my portfolio at shaziamistry.com, I chose expression engine for that because I wanted the flexibility that it offered, since I wanted a cms that could handle members and also multiple blogs, and not need a million plugins to work the way I wanted. I actually was not going to switch to expression engine here, because I really love textpattern, but since ee came out with a multiple site manager, which allows the use of 3 domain on the same license, it made sense to just upgrade my nisaa license and then get the msm, and run all my 3 core sites from the same manager - saves a lot of time! wink

If you’re asking why I don’t use wordpress - I don’t like wordpress for myself. I love it for clients, I love the development team, I love it as a cms, it’s excellent, I use it all the time for clients, but I am not fond of it for myself - it’s very restricting and everything needs a plugin - I need more flexibility than it offers! smile
