Merry? What did you just say to me?

read more about: huh?.

As I was walking out of Costco tonight, I said bye to the lady at the exit and flashed her a smile, as is my custom, even if people don’t always appreciate it, you know, me being a hijabi and all, so she says to me “merry Christmas!” and I replied “same to you”, then as I was walking away, she shouts out to me “if you celebrate Christmas that is…” I turned around, looked at her, and started cracking up, people, I don’t understand how a Christmas greeting became offensive… are any of you offended by this? Please, I would really like to know!

And in other irrelevant news, you know how I am working out now, well, one of the reasons I go to that particular place is because it’s frequented by a lot of older women, who, admittedly can “exercise” my ass off, but I like to look at them as “inspirational”, you know, like if I keep doing this, in 20 years I can be just as fit as them, except today, I was greeted by 2 “younger” women. Working out opposite “perky” 18 year olds doing jumping jacks… crap people!!

Don’t you just hate the perky ones? (lol)

I don’t get upset when people say this, to me, but I think it is more diverse if you just say happy holidays to people, when you work in a retail setting. One time I was standing in line and as the lady in front of me was finishing up her transaction, the cashier said to her happy holidays, and she replied “Oh come on what is with this about offending people and being politcially correct just say Merry Christmas if someone doesn’t like it then oh well!” She just displayed alot of ignorance and intolerance, because even though many people celebrate Christmas, there are just as many people who do not. So even though it does not upset me, I think it is more respectable when working in the retail market to say happy holidays.

Cynthia… i kinda “despise” the perky ones!! haha

Wasaski… I do know what you mean, some people do tend to be completely ignorant, but I think that it’s sort of gone to extremes. Like, people are almost scared to give a greeting.. happy holidays or merry christmas, or whatever, it’s like they are afraid that we’ll beat them up or something for saying it! it’s to the point of absurdity in my opinion. To me, I just don’t know who is making a big deal out of this, I don’t know one single person who is offended by this greeting. I do, of course, agree that it’s better to say happy holidays, but my point is that it’s not “offensive”.

I get offended when someone does NOT wish me a merry Xmas rasberry

We’ve been celebrating Xmas for the past 3 yrs and even when we didn’t I liked to be wishes.

Merry Christmas, Shaz!

Yeah, forget “Ladies Only” gyms.  There should be age-specific gyms.

At least she was trying not to offend you....

Thoughts from shaz

kimberly… age-specific - I know eh!
well, yes, I did appreciate the fact that she was not trying to offend, she is quite a nice lady actually. what I think is just so stupid about the situation is how “politically correct” people like to be… what is that I just watched on tv with some reindeer… a “non-denominational, all-inclusive, secular” holiday special?? wink

merry xmas suroor smile

You should see me get *excited* when I see santa! wink
Hey,don’t worry about the *perky* ones, gravity will soon *catch* up with them. By the way, now there are *devices* you can wear and you can be just like them, hehehehe, visit the women underwear section wink. Happy holidays dear to you and your lovely family.

I go to a normal gym (not ladies only) and it’s always filled with old people. The trick is to go during normal business hours so the younger crowd are at work or school. When I go, it’s the flabby tummy mummies and the retired oldies.

happy “holidays” sf! smile

Tasmiya… “flabby tummy mummies” looool
