I surely have the most kick ass birthdays!

So, I woke up this morning and had breakfast served to me, all my favorites of course, french toast, over easy eggs, fresh strawberries, chai... it was completely lovely. Then, I had a plethora of gifts, you know, things I really adore and drool over! And as if that was not enough, some fairies came and cleaned my house for me, and my husband took care of the kids so that I go to a spa!

Who believed that???

Actually, 2 of my sick kids spent the night with their grandparents, the other sick kid went to bed at 2am, I woke up before anyone else, as usually, got some work done, made myself breakfast, ate alone, finally when my husband got up, we took my youngest to the Emergency, waited and waited, then left, finally got to my mom’s house, was greeted by one sleeping kid and another really sick one, home-made cake (because no one remembered to buy yummy cheesecake for me!), although I did safely eat my weight in fruit cake.

Yes, my friends, just like my birthday last year, when I spent 7 hours in the hospital with my sick husband, I am again caring for sick members of my family! Don’t you just wish you were me!!

man, all that sickness and nursing required SUCKS. the only way to survive is to inform your husband that once everyone is completely well YOU ARE GOING OUT FOR THE ENTIRE DAY ALL BY YOURSELF AS A MAKE-UP BIRTHDAY TREAT. Then, as you nurse your sick family members, sustain yourself with fantasies of what you will do that day, the money you will spend, and the many wonderful ways in which you will indulge yourself.

let me say tho, that my mom is truly an AMAZING woman! in addition to making super delicious alcohol-free fruit cake, and cooking tonnes of food, she took care of both my boys so I would have only the baby for the nite!!

however, the baby had terrible fever and insisted that the tv (thank God for treehouse people) be on until 4am! and would periodically throw himself on top of me, frequently kick my head, and have occasional outbursts of gibberish! Fun! let me tell you!

This made me sad :( I can relate to how you must be feeling right now. We were all sick this summer ON HOLIDAY and it was the most awful time. Happy times should not coincide with sick times.

but you know what, my 5 year old has been completely amazing, I am in awe of that kid. mashaallah. he was so concerned that it was my bday and he made me a card and wanted to make sure that he didn’t fall asleep so he could give it to me. his love is tremendous, there really are no words for when your kids show you back the love that you’ve given them, is there?
