This spring I was all set to start composting… I convinced my husband and everything!! smile

It seemed like a lot of our garbage consisted of food waste, like egg shells, bread crusts, fruit peels… you know… the things that you generate endless amounts of when you have kids! So, I would stack everything up by the sink because I didn’t want to throw it out and I knew that I would one day have a compost, then my husband would come, grumble to himself, tell me something about not having it YET, put all of it into the garbage and go on his way…

However, this April, our city started it’s own composting program, much to my husbands delight, so instead of a box with worms in the backyard, we have a composting bin in the garage that goes out once a week! Works for me… I don’t have a green thumb anyways, so compost would be wasted in my hands!!

Composting is a great start to being Earth-friendly, and for the gardeners… it’s an amazing way because you get awesome benefits!

Composting tips here and this looks like a great tool… Garden Composter.

Go Green! Or at least try smile

Thoughts from Asiya

what a great idea! Your city is smart!

Thoughts from Yemi

I agree with Asiya, it is nice that the city makes it easy for you.  Here in China, there is just no way.  No land for a garden, no composting program… no recycling.  It is just too expensive for a developing nation to run programs like these, I suppose.
