I was never a strong believer in the “terrible two’s” saying. Two, I think, is a nice age, a curious age, a playful and loving age, an age where they can have fun with us, when they really enjoy pleasing us and when they can easily be tricked!
Three, I think, is an age I can skip. I can really skip the defiance, the angst, the general craziness associated with a kid who wants to be a big boy and a small baby all at once!
Especially my 3 year old people! He is sometimes beyond ridiculous with his arguments and his insomniac-ness! Oh! Kids! They’re a blessing right?
So my “not 2 anymore!” year old kid has turned into an amplified version of his former self. Where before he would cry not to nap, but would get tired enough in about 10 minutes to fall asleep, now he is telling me he “won’t” and walking out of the room! If only he were ugly, I would be able to look him in the eyes and demand that he take a beauty nap, but alas, I look at him and instead feel the urge to kiss his mischievous, little, smirking face!
I know exactly what you mean. My middle one will be 3 next week. He used to be such a sweet, good little boy- not so much anymore!
I’ve found each of mine have been different. My first – as soon as he hit 2 and 1/4 – WOAH!
My second started later 3 and a bit and my third? Gosh he started tantrums et al at 18 months!

Salamaat,
I was wondering about the “terrible twos” thing too, since Sufyan is still incredibly sweet and playful etc. He has tantrums but not half as bad….so it is three huh?
I think i will have the same reaction though, the urge to kiss that mischievous face

I think it’s terrible 3s not twos (or when they are about to turn 3). And by that age, they can say whatever they want to say(no more guessing work). But I also love that age, they become little pple, grown ups, toilet trained, sleep throughout the night.

tasmiya, true, they are all different, but my first also was pretty lovely all through his twos. And the third??? it’s best not to go there… that’s a whole looooong post in the making!!
Maliha, your sufyan is so cute mashaAllah.
I guess it’s a nice age when you can ‘look back’ at it! hehe
Oh my goodness, this scares me to death! My 19 month old is already so headstrong, I fear what he’ll be like at 3!
