Less experience please.

Today it occured to me that parenting must be the only job where having alot of experience makes us perform worse…

My eldest son never had chocolate, ice cream, candy, and other sweet stuff until after he was 2 years old, and he never had it very often.

My second child had the sweet stuff after he was 1 year.

Meet my third son… the 6 month old…

Yummy!!

Disclaimer: The baby only had a couple sucks of the popsicle, he did not really eat the whole box! And the kids still don’t have sweet stuff too often.

And let me say something about these popsicles that my cousin introduced me to… they are just about the best thing since slice bread!! Especially in this heat! And if you’re pregnant… you should definately get some because I feel like it would make a great pregnancy snack! Enjoy! And thanks to my cousin smile

What to do with a nutty toddler?

Midol?

My husband thinks that our toddler is behaving like he has PMS. That means he is behaving moody, cranky, and unpredictable, changing his mind often, and crying for everything… So, I guess this is a guy’s version of what PMS is…

Anyways, back to the toddler, who woke up because the baby was screaming. He woke up, and started crying and screaming while running to the steps. (We have a gate) He stands at the gate and refuses to move, or listen to us.

My husband goes to close their bedroom door so that the 3 year old does not get up as well… the toddler “freaks out” completely, starts screaming “no, no!”, and running around in circles…

At this point, we don’t know what is up with him… our guess is hunger.

He sees the bottle of milk and freaks out again “milk, milk, milk”, then drinks 1 oz and says he’s all done??!? Ok, now I don’t get this kid.

My husband manages to get him to finish the milk, so we’re thinking that he’s going to be in a better mood now…

Ok, no!

He’s now on our bed, and refuses to let his dad come back on the bed. He starts crying and screaming, grabbing the pillows, telling him “no”...

Hubby goes back in toddler’s bed and I haven’t seen him since!

Toddler starts crying and asking for his daddy!

All this drama and its only 7am!!!!!!

Isn’t it nice when your husband leaves you with crying baby and nutty toddler? So thoughtful… now, I can enjoy the morning, as I wake to the beautiful sounds of my beautiful babies!

How to be a dad.

read more about: Better-Half.

Step 1: Start your day.

The day starts off with the hardest thing you have to do all day… wake up before everyone and get dressed.

Step 2: Go to work.

But after you get dressed, its nice… you get to go to work!! You get to spend your day being productive, meeting people, making important decisions, changing the world… (at least so it seems to mom at home)

Step 3: Make your way home.

Once you’re done working, you do some errands, (mostly from mom at home, but lets not ponder on that point) then you’re home… at the end of the day.

Step 4: Greet the family.

“Hi wife! Did you brush your hair today?? You really should! You look tired!”

“Hi Kids! Do you want to go play outside? Yeah! Ok! Let’s go… but first I have to go change my clothes. Go stay with mommy, I’ll be right back!”

Step 5: Play with kids.

Next you can go upstairs, use the bathroom, change your clothes, check your email, call your buddy, see whats on TV, and once you hear your wife screaming at you from downstairs, you can come down to play with the kids.

Step 6: Dinner, Bath, Bedtime.

Come in for dinner, help put the kids to bed.

Step 7: Sit, relax, watch TV, play on your computer.

Basically continue what you were doing in step 5 before being called by wife…

And there you go… you are dad.

There is no ‘how to be a mom’ guide… the internet is not big enough!

Ok, so I am a little pissed off upset at hubby… and ‘to blog’ means that I don’t have to pay for therapy!

Disclaimer: Ordinarily, I am pretty fond of hubby… Who is solely responsible for bedtime baths and songs, for doing laundry, and for taking out the garbage. Who does most of the diaper changes when he is at home, who washes dishes most of the time, and who loves his boys. And respect to all dads who are giving fatherhood everything they got! But sometimes, dads can be such ‘men’!

5 minutes is not enough!

My battle for some time alone continues…

My husband did try to give me some time alone today. As soon as he came home, he took care of them, and in my 5 minutes alone, I fell asleep! I fell asleep for 5 minutes and then was awaken by screams from downstairs…

I thought that it was best to give them dinner before they started to get hungry… and so ended my first 5 minutes alone.

My kids have a problem with their own room… for some reason they are CONSTANTLY in my room these days… so after we come up from dinner I chased them out of my room and locked the door!

After about 15 minutes they were banging on the door trying to get into the room, although daddy was supposed to be babysitting them. (I think that my husband cannot handle all 3 kids at once)

Sometimes I feel like I am going to explode! Like today. I can handle my kids, but somedays it seems like the insanity never ends… my precious little baby has been crying non stop (at least so it seems) for the past week. Is he teething? I forgot what babies could be like… can a first time mom tell me if this is normal at 5 months?!? Needy. Cranky. Fussy. Screaming. Wants to be held ALL the time! Is it normal?

At least the baby is sleeping now, and so is the preschooler. The toddler is at the foot of my bed digging into my toes. My husband is on his computer too. (looking at some car website!) The dishes are hanging out in the sink.
