Who got their kids new school bags? For like the first day of school? Especially since it’s grade 1 and everything?

Umm, NOT me!

Almost 6 year old: Mommy, will you get me a school bag today?

Me: Well, it’s a holiday and everywhere is closed, BUT I will get it tomorrow! For sure! I’ll go to the mall and get you one after work.

Almost 6 year old: OK, because I don’t like using this small bag – look, my notebook can’t even fit in it!

Me: Hmmm, yes, I see that. OK, well use it just for tomorrow, only 1 day. OK?

Almost 6 year old: OK mommy, what kind of bag will you get me? I know you love to get bags with letters on them!!

Me: Hahah, yes babe, I like bags with letters on them!

Almost 6 year old: What is your favorite letter? I know! You like the ones with G most! Right?

As long as it’s for the right reasons!

5 year old: Mommy, why is there an apple on my iPod?

Me: Because it’s an Apple iPod, it’s made by a company called Apple.

5 year old: Oh, like your computer?

Me: Yes.

5 year old: So, you have an Apple computer?

Me: Yes.

5 year old: But, you have it because it’s good right? Not because it’s cool.

Me: hahaha, yes babe, it is good.

5 year old: Ok, if it’s good and cool, then that is ok.

So, my 5 year old, long obsessed with large houses, you know, because perhaps our tiny little shoebox of a home is not sufficiently fascinating for him, was looking at an ad for an expensive-ish house… merely a few million… He looks at it, and with his mouth hanging open, drops the flyer to the floor.

Me: Yo! Dude! I said give it to me, why did you drop it?

5 year old: I-can’t-believe-my-eyes!

Me: hahaha, what do you mean? (ok, I laughed MUCH more than that!)

5 year old: I LOVE that house! I am going to buy it!

When we move in, y’all will come visit, ‘k?

Me: Yes, honey, I think it’s called snow.

In other non-snow-storm related news, I am taking some time of from working, so no new design or development jobs until September, many apologies to any potential clients. I am just in dire need of “me” time!

Soon I’ll be taking down my portfolio, and my completely defunct professional blog, I’ll still continue blogger here.. you know, blogging is cheaper than therapy and all that!
