Friend: Yeah, you have some weird magic!
Me: Umm, what does that mean?
Friend: Your food tastes good but no one ever knows what you put in it!
Me: Hahah… ok then.
Friend: Hey, will you make biryani?
Me: Dude, I don’t take requests ok!
Friend: Huh. Well, you know the food on Saturday was really good! How did you make it?
Me: Umm, yeah… I don’t like to give out my secrets…
Friend: If you tell me, I’ll help you clean your basement!
Me: Guy, if you help me clean my basement, I’ll make you steak, or lamb, or you know, biryani!
Of course, if you’re interested in what I made on Saturday, here is my recipe for roasted veggie sandwich! Happy Friday!!

about me.More than a year ago, only about a month after she started reading my blog, and me, hers, Achelois wrote the following analysis about me. I never responded, so I thought today I would grace her with an answer… Dude! (I know how you love that term!) You are soooo NOT crap!!!
Shazia –
1) Do you like white? I think you’d prefer white fabric over colours.
I actually love colours, but… I think I love colours more on graphics, prints, websites, accessories… things like that. I will say that all my furniture is pretty much “white”, well off-white really, and all my clothes are very neutral colours.. brown, black, beige, blue, and yes, white. What I really like though, is simplicity.
2) You sometimes fuss over tidiness and you love delicate and intricate patterns and designs.
Hahahah, this one is funny! I am completely messy, it is literally a challenge for me to keep anything tidy, but I DETEST mess, I just get annoyed when things are not tidy! So, basically, I am in a perpetual state of annoyance! TOTALLY LOVE intricate patterns and designs!!!
3) I think you don’t like to wear heavy jewelry or dangling earrings.
Correct!
4) I think you are somewhere between 5 feet and 5’ 4” tall and are not yet thirty.
Also correct, although, since it’s been more than a year since you’ve written this, I am now thirty.
5) You seem to get hurt easily but you don’t like to show it. Do you try to suppress your anger? I also have the feeling that you cry easily and don’t mind crying in the presence of people you love.
Also correct.
6) I don’t think you grow your nails; they seem short and clean.
They are, although sometimes I forget to cut them.
7) I sense that you don’t like reading too much or let’s say you don’t care for it. Very long texts may bore you very soon. You may be very impatient sometimes.
Hahaha… yes!
8) I feel you are very honest and when you can’t be honest you prefer to be quiet. You don’t like confrontations (?). They make you unhappy and sometimes you would rather dig your head in the pillow and wish the bad times were all over.
Wow, yes, this is pretty true. I don’t like to deal with my emotions actually, if it’s a work-related problem, I will confront it head-on, but if it’s anything to do with my feelings, I will just pretend the problem does not exist.
9) You sincerely love those you love and you care a lot about them.
Very true!
10) I think you leave things till the last minute and delay doing it until you must; is it true? I also think you are multi-tasking by nature.

working.The last time I was at a 9-5-ish type job, I was there for years, and people either really liked me or really did not like me, there was rarely a person that would say “hmm, Shazia? She’s ok… I’m not really sure how I feel about her”... It seems I am having the same type of effect on the people here!
I love people that are genuinely nice, I do, because I feel like there are very few really nice people in the world, and also because I could never, ever, no matter how much I try, be one of those nice people. It’s very sad. You guys think I’m nice right?? (Please say yes!) In real life though… not so nice! But I totally love when people appreciate my “mean-ness”, seriously, it brings me much joy! And I love it even more when people can respond to my mean-ness in kind… those people are hard to come by!
I feel like I did find my soulmate here though, and she is awesome! She’s so awesome in fact, that I think “I am awesome” might be written on her resume, right under “I am humble”. It’s really hard to explain her full “awesomeness”, but I will share some of our emails with you, so you can get an idea of why she I think she’s so awesome…
Awesome girl to me:
“You are mean and judgmental!”
Me to Awesome girl:
“Isn’t it mean and judgmental to call someone mean and judgmental???”
Awesome girl to me:
“No… In my case I’m so awesome it’s just being honest.”
Me to Awesome girl:
“hahahaha… that was pretty funny!”

“I know right!
I’m terribly witty… Don’t be jealous, OK.”
Me to Awesome girl:
“i gotta leave, but if i didn’t then surely i would be able to think of something witty-er to say! for sure!!!”
Awesome girl to me:
“Too bad… I was waiting looking forward to being entertained by your spectacular wit but, alas, you are not here!
Now I will be sad all day :(”
And so goes my day… we REALLY enjoy our lunch breaks!

The first time I ever saw Rachel Ray, I was less that impressed with her “enthusiasm”, I felt like it was hard to keep up with her perkiness, but recently, I noticed that I am kind of hooked on her show as well… and so are my kids..who like to pretend they are chefs!!
I am completely not a gaming type of person, well, perhaps I was way back when I was like 13 or something, but it’s been years since I’ve played a video game, although I have to say that Wii looks very tempting and at some point I am certain we’ll have to get one, but this is cute!
Hey, Toronto can be purdy in winter!
