Apparently I’m weird, complete with pictures!

by shaz on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at 01:45 AM
read more about: about me.

I was tagged to post 7 weird things about me, and I am sure that there must be more than only 7 weird things about me but for some reason I could only think of 2, so I asked my friend…

Me: Hey, what’s weird about me?

Friend: Like only 1 thing?

Me: Why, am I that weird??

Friend: Well, I was just asking… Your laugh?

Me: My laugh? Is it weird? Or just loud?

Friend: Well you laugh at everything, makes me feel like I am funny, when I am not!

Me: Aww, you are funny!

Clearly she was no help! But I did remember that although we always go to the movies together, we never want to see the same movie, because, apparently I have weird taste in movies, or bad taste, either way, I’ll start there.

1) I’ve been told that I have weird taste in movies, to the extend that no one ever wants to go with, except maybe my sister, if she has nothing else to do! Usually I go with my friend, who I drag with me when I feel like I need to get out, although she has to pick the movie, because things like Baby Mama and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants don’t interest her. (Did I just admit to seeing those movies?)

Every time we go, it’s usually after 10pm and I am always late so the last time I actually showed up on time, but alas, they were still standing there waiting for me!

I took a photo of them standing there, which they thought was weird, maybe this could be 1a – I take pictures of anything (although not too weird if you’re a blogger!) and almost always have my camera on hand.

2) I don’t own a brush or a comb or any other type of hair-smoothing-and-detangling device although I have long hair. It’s not that I don’t believe in such apparatus, it’s that I cannot find the perfect brush, and I refuse to settle! In the meantime, I just borrow, or umm, just, you know, use my fingers!

3) I like to think of my cooking as a super-power! Uh, seriously!

You see, it may not be exceptional or spectacular, but I can do it very fast and I never know exactly what ingredients I am going to use until the last moment, and no one ever knows how it’s going to turn out – it’s always a surprise! However, most of the times it’s pretty good, but occasionally it does totally suck – so if you’re ever adventurous enough to experience my cooking, be warned!

I also have a sick obsession with spices, (2a maybe?) as in I LOVE the spice aisle, as in it’s probably the one section I spend the most time in, as in every time I go to the grocery store I must buy at least one type of spice.

Behold!

4) I have a deep fascination with writing equipment, like, pens and markers and such. Not pencils so much though, but give me a pen that writes really well and smoothly, and I’ll be your BFF any day!

5) I LOVE power tools! Ya, you read that right, and that’s not to be confused with “I know how to use power tools”, because I really don’t, it’s just that I am sorta passionate about them, especially a drill and table saw! In fact, I’ve always wanted a table saw and I may or may not bring up this topic every time I visit a hardware store.

6) I have a love/hate relationship with cell phones. I love the devices, I love gadgets, but I really don’t like talking on cell phones and I’ve noticed that mine is rarely charged. You know when you sometimes call people and then say, in frustration, when they don’t answer, “why do you have a cell phone if you don’t answer it?!” – that would be me!

In all honesty, I think that business should only be conducted via email, and perhaps even all conversations, I LOVE email! And although you may think that I would be a text messaging kind of person, I am a dreadfully sucky text-messager. The other day I send a text message without any message at all because I pressed “send” before I even typed what I need to say, but luckily if you do that, it sends a message saying “call me”, so it worked out and that is now my preferred way of text messaging!

7) If I am working a lot, I can forget to sleep. In fact before “the funk”, I could just work continuously until I literally passed out on my desk in front of my computer – this has happened multiple times! I actually get so tired that I’ve been known to fall asleep mid-conversation, or even while on the phone!! I may have an ever so slight problem!

read more about: speedlinking.

So, it was September 11th yesterday, and I thought that I would share with you a very real reality of 9/11 that almost no one thinks about.

On NISAA there is a special Ramadan podcast, it’s a nice listen, and while you’re there, feel free to also subscribe to podcasts from within iTunes or whatever else you use!

I don’t know if its because I am fasting, but these hash browns look yummy!

Ahh, facebook…

And finally, to leave you with something pretty, some beautiful photos of rain.

Keeping me company today

read more about: working.

At my “day job”, we’re launching a brand new website next week, (read a LOT of non-stop staring at a computer screen) and so I listen to the radio all day, this one, if you must know.

I really “feel” this song…

Because there is nothing worse that knowing that someone you love is suffering and not be able to help them.

I am t.i.r.e.d!

read more about: I am an idiot!.

Since I always share my accomplishments with you, I thought it was only fair to share my failures too.

So, remember the great funk of 2008? Well, it wasn’t so much that I was in funk, but rather like I was broken into a million tiny little pieces and thrown all over the earth, then had to somehow find each piece, bring them all together and glue them back into place, or, you know, something like that.

Anyway, when I said that I was taking a break from web development, I really meant that I literally could not work anymore because of the aforementioned being broken into a million pieces and all that. The last website I worked on was Becoming Sarah, and in her design info page, she praises complains about my work, but she’s such a great writer that I even enjoy reading something bad about my work! Ya…

Ok, that’s it. As you were…
