Don’t you just love

read more about: mom of a few.

When they are almost drifting into deep sleep and you kiss them lightly and say “I love you babe”, and then they smile and faintly, almost out of reflex, say “I love you too mommy”…

Speedlinking & making stuff

Hey, it’s the last weekend of summer – sort of – it’s getting cold already, if you life in some place that gets cold that is, and if you do, did you ever notice that as soon as school starts, it gets cold??

If you’re feeling particularly crafty this weekend, you could make this simple school bag, I think I had something like that in high school! Or, if you’re feeling crafty and green, you could make this recycled bag!

For those DIY-ers, this decorated stool looks really cute!

And finally, if you’ve wondered about how West Indian food is so tasty, Cynthia shares the secrets of great green seasoning! I, however, must admit that I will not make green seasoning, simply because I am not that dedicated, and because my mother sometimes spoil me and give me when she makes… otherwise I use a lot of spices… I have an entire shelf full of spices and seasonings – one day I’ll post about that.

In T.O. – check out the new traffic lights at Yonge-Dundas – it’s interesting. The air show is on this weekend at the Ex, I think we might check that out. And now, we’re off to see Star Wars: The Clone Wars today, because I took a day off to go to Centre Island, however it rained and so we decided against it, and instead we had a huge breakfast and now we’ll sit in a dark room and watch “the good guys and bad guys shooting“! Yey!

Coffee and staying awake without it

by shaz on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 11:44 AM
read more about: me like it!.

Sometimes I love coffee, most times I do, but I like fancy coffee, ya know, double double just does not do it for me!

Recently, I’ve taken to White Chocolate Mocha like my life depends on it, well, sort of, and I’ve decided to ignore the calories that I consume by having just one of these things. I am sure at some point, I’ll lament about the fact that, again, I am not losing weight!

One of the girls at my work is a bit of a health nut, so I literally have to hide my coffee from her, and one day she sent me a list of how to stay awake... coffee is no where on that list! Sadly.

Whatever.

Anyway, I thought that I would share with you, my lovely, non-judgmental-about-the-unhealthy-and-expensive-coffee-habit readers, the secret places in Toronto to get GREAT tasting coffee – Avenue Cafe, which is so trendy that I feel like I really should not even enter the place, and Williams, which is a really comfortable place to hang out and have coffee, and possibly cheese cake!

What kind of coffee, or tea, or drink do you like? Or what do you do to stay awake – I tried pulling my earlobes, and I am not certain that it did anything but make me look idiotic!

Dear John

read more about: sometimes I read.

One day, as I was walking to the train station, I passed by a book store, and I asked the girl standing there which book she would get; she directed me to Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, who, I didn’t realize at the time, is also the author of The Notebook.

Dear John

If I had to describe this book in one word, I would say “sad”. I don’t really know if I enjoyed reading it or not, I was actually able to relate to a lot of it so in that respect I liked it, and although the ending was tremendously sad – ‘bittersweet’ really, it didn’t make me cry (like The Notebook apparently made me do the first time I saw it!). It was inspiring though, and in a strange way makes you feel sort of good, especially if you’re a person that always tries to do the right thing!

If you’re one of those people that are in love with “true love”, you should read it, and if you’re a skeptic and a realist, you may want to skip it!

And in my dream

read more about: 4 year olds. kids will be kids.

Said the 4 year old, “Everyone was playing football with a basketball, and then the giant T-Rex came in the door and asked me if he could play too, and I said “umm, yes”, and then he played with us!” Then his aunt asked “Who is us?”, his face gleamed with delight as this question was confirmation that he did, in fact, have an audience, “Well, it was grandma, and me…” he trailed off. “So, just you and grandma where playing football?” she was intrigued I think, he answered promptly, “ohh, no, not just us, we were playing with all the dinosaurs! hahah and it was football with a basketball!”
