Merry? What did you just say to me?

by shaz on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 08:14 PM
read more about: huh?.

As I was walking out of Costco tonight, I said bye to the lady at the exit and flashed her a smile, as is my custom, even if people don’t always appreciate it, you know, me being a hijabi and all, so she says to me “merry Christmas!” and I replied “same to you”, then as I was walking away, she shouts out to me “if you celebrate Christmas that is…” I turned around, looked at her, and started cracking up, people, I don’t understand how a Christmas greeting became offensive… are any of you offended by this? Please, I would really like to know!

And in other irrelevant news, you know how I am working out now, well, one of the reasons I go to that particular place is because it’s frequented by a lot of older women, who, admittedly can “exercise” my ass off, but I like to look at them as “inspirational”, you know, like if I keep doing this, in 20 years I can be just as fit as them, except today, I was greeted by 2 “younger” women. Working out opposite “perky” 18 year olds doing jumping jacks… crap people!!

Meet Mandy

by shaz on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 08:56 AM
read more about: better half?. just for fun.

Or, as I like to call her, “Sexy Mandy”, the gps unit that talks like we should be dialing 1-900-sexymandy to interact with her!

In all fairness to the GPS-making people, they have included 3 different ‘personalities’, 3 girls (of course) and 1 guy (the guy voice sounds like he scolding us!).

Anyways, my husband, who always forcefully says “I don’t like taking directions from a woman!!”, appears to be really enjoying taking directions from Sexy Mandy… I mean, he was using it yesterday to get directions to my mom’s house! (which is 15 minutes away, just in case you were wondering)

In other news, you can see a few Eid photos, with commentary on Flickr.

read more about: life in canada. being muslim.

I love this sitcom, Little Mosque on the Prairie, because, I hate stereotyping people, which, if you’re a long time reader, I am sure that you know, the fact that I am Muslim, and also I seriously appreciate humor.

You may see more episodes here

Enjoy!

Peek in Monday & my dancing kids

by shaz on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 07:52 AM
read more about: 3 year olds. 5 year olds. just for fun. kids will be kids.

On Saturday night we had a little dinner at my parent’s house for my sister’s boyfriend, who is leaving to study in the UK. I wanted to participate in Cake’s Peek in Mondays, so I took a bunch of video of everyone, except, I forgot to turn on the mic on the camera! (can you say “loooooser”?!)

Anyways, here is one of my kids trying to dance! (yes, that is my laptop in the background, I do travel with it often, and yes, I was also trying to get some work done, and that’s my mom sitting in the background and laughing a lot!!)

(I have no idea who’s been teaching them to dance!!)

ps… if you can’t understand the lyrics, it’s probably for the best! smile
