work at home mom.

Remember how I was sick last week, well in my attempts to be more “green” (as in eco-friendly), I was collecting my tissues on my desk so that I could throw them in with the organic waste… I never actually got around to doing that though and this morning the tissues were in the garbage courtesy of my hubby who really hated the sight of them!

I don’t know, but markers on kids doesn’t really bother me that much!

And apparently, markers on the wall either! Well, it does bother me, but that wall needs to be painted anyways, so I don’t know if I care all that much, but my husband has not seen it yet, and will surely lose it with me, as the kid was in my care at the time! (but in my defense, I was billing a client at the time, so I didn’t want to make any mistakes!) Any ideas on what ‘creative’ excuse to use this time??

read more about:
1) Even though there is the benefit of being able to wear completely strange and mis-matched clothing under winter jackets, the hour that it takes to get all the kids and myself dressed, makes dressing for winter number 1 on this list!
2) The coldness.
3) The fact that no matter what time of the day or night it snows, kids immediately need to go outside and feel it’s appropriate to beg until we feel like pulling our hair out have to ask them nicely to stop!
4) Cleaning snow and ice off the van.
5) Having large sheets of ice fall off trunks while driving behind them.
6) Shoveling the driveway (which really is a non-issue for me because I never shovel, but if I did have to shovel, this would likely be #1!)
7) The deceiving nature of wonderful, sun-shiny days with clear, blue skies, which looks amazing from inside a warm house, but then reveals bitter wind and freezing temperatures once you are lured into venturing out!
8) Getting dressed in a million pieces of clothing to go outside for like 1 second!
9) The slush.
10) The fact that in addition to being ummm, fat, ahem, I have to wear about 10 extra layers so I look like a Pillsbury doughboy!

We have about a foot of snow outside today!

The kids were almost covered!
But. on the other hand, sledding is fun! And for the first time ever, I think I will be attempting to snowboard this winter!!

better half?.
It is rare that my husband and I watch tv during the day, but today we were sitting on the couch and a there was some sort of really sappy movie on, when the mousehunter informed me that he had seen it before. I was sufficiently shocked since it’s not a movie that I remember ever watching, which obviously suggests that dearest hubby watched a “girlie” movie without me!!
It’s funny sometimes how men react to certain movies or events, usually my husband is pretty much a stereotypical man, hating anything that involves a girl, a boy and a romance, but on occasion he surprises me as he can get all teary-eyed during certain scenes! Like, for example, we were watching Scrubs
, and I turned around to look at him and had to do a double-take because I saw tears in his eyes! Yes, I said Scrubs people!
If you haven’t seen Scrubs, it’s really an awesome show, I got the The Complete Sixth Season
to review, and we really enjoyed it. Back before I had kids, we watched the first season, and only very occasionally after that, but when I saw this last season, I found that it was much funnier and more outrageous that I remember. The show is based in a hospital, but unlike regular hospital dramas, this one is completely hilarious and the characters are a bit on the loony side!
So, if you’re curious about what makes the mousehunter cry… I think it depends on the particular storyline, but usually birth and death… how about you?
