read more about: . mom escapes.

Though I am a bit uncomfortable with its close resemblance to the real thing, and bothered by the water wastage, nothing is as much fun as a family water fight!!

I like the fact that these come in cool sea animal shapes and don’t look like a real gun.

Can you say ‘unfair advantage’!!

He’s just too yummy!!

Redefining life as a work at home mom

read more about: parenting strategies.

About 4 months ago, I officially became a ‘work at home mom’, or wahm, or momtrepreneur, which ever one you prefer it means the same thing, we are balancing our babies and our businesses.

I’d be lying if I said that my life has been totally great and I don’t regret it for a moment. There are days when I feel like a complete failure, there are days when I threaten my sons that I will go back to my “office building” if they don’t give me a chance to do my work, and there are days when my husband solely takes care of the kids while I criticize his parenting skills.

In one word, it has been an ‘adventure’! You know, the kind where you’re laughing one minute, crying the next.

It takes stamina to run a business from home. It is not for every mom, but I really think that stay at home parents need something to do besides mould young minds. The somewhat monotony and lack of mental stimulation can be almost overwhelming for most, and personally, I feel that having a creative outlet helps me be a better mom to my kids.

Strategies to be an efficient work at home mom (in no particular order, they are all equally important to me)

I do prefer this life to working 9+ hours in an office building and being away from my kids for 12-14 hours everyday, I feel extremely fortunate to be able to take this path, which is challenging but also rewarding. But for stay at home moms in general and even working moms, a similar strategy is still necessary to make our busy lives seem less busy.

You know there might be a little too much blogging in the house when

4 year old: Mommy, mommy, mommy, MOMMY! Where are you? Mommy? Mommy? Oh, mommy, what took you so long? I was calling you and calling you!

me: oh, well, I was ummm, busy.

4 year old: hmmm, what were you doing? You didn’t hear me calling you and calling you?

me: ummm, yeah, but, you know, I was ummm, busy.

4 year old: What were you doing mommy?

me: ummm, just some, ummm, work.

4 year old: And you mean you couldn’t leave it??? Because I was calling you and calling you, YOU know that???

And later at dinner,

4 year old: Mommy, when do you do your blogging all the time, like daddy?

Well, yes I am still doing it! Everyday I still cook something different! Except, obviously, I am really bad at recording it daily.

Yesterday I made Goat Curry, and it was soooo YUM that I decided I needed to post it, so I did! I am going to try to get up to date will everything that I’ve cooked so far, but I am just going to continue doing it everyday as well from next week.

And remember the recipe contest?

This is the prize pack:

shan indian seasonings

Well, as far as I can tell, only Surviving entered, so she is getting one prize pack!!! smile And the other… well, I am going to just do a random draw… leave a comment here if you are interested and on Sunday I’ll do the draw!

Love Thursday & the downstairs bus stop!

(yes, the middle one is a little obsessed with touching his “thingy” now that he is wearing jockey shorts)

Every morning before I take the kids downstairs, I kinda sing “the downstairs bus is leaving, the downstairs bus is leaving…”, so as to alert them to the fact that I am going downstairs and they all need to come with me. They enjoy it! And even dance sometimes!

Now that my husband is taking them downstairs most mornings, he doesn’t sing anymore, he is more, ummm, how do I say, b.o.r.i.n.g, and he has defined an area called the “downstairs bus stop”. So, when he says “downstairs bus stop”, all the kids line up. It’s actually very cute to see them running to their “bus stop” and getting in a line!

It’s the last Love Thursday today, so visit the site and say bye! smile
