Love Thursday & the haircut

My middle child has been very scared of the barber, fondly called ‘barbarino’. Although the eldest has been going steadily for about a year, my almost 3 year old has only attempted once and chickened out!

A couple months ago, something changed…
mousehunter: are you going to get a haircut by barbarino?
almost 3 yr old: ammm, noooo
mousehunter: ok, I’ll just take your brother

Then, on their return home…
almost 3 yr old: how you get a lollipop?
4 year old: from barbarino! (lick, lick, lick)
almost 3 yr old: yeah? can I get a lollipop?
mousehunter: only if you get a haircut!

Yesterday:
mousehunter: daddy cut your hair?
almost 3 yr old: no, barbarino!
mousehunter: are you sure?
almost 3 yr old: yeah! I want a lollipop!

translation:
no… he cut my hair… with a brush… he put powder and brush my… he put powder in the brush… then he brush my hair… then I closed my eye… then he put a vacuum machine… I GET A LOLLIPOP!

Doing it all

For the past couple weeks, my husband has been somewhat missing in action in the household and child care departments… leaving me to do… not quite all, but almost all…

So, what I really want to say, instead of having this become a rant, is… single parents rock! Seriously, for all they do, we should do something for them… so let’s do something special for a single parent… coffee, dinner, babysitting…

sorry for being so lame, I know that real single parents are even funny and interesting… blame it on the not-as-good-as-a-real-single-parent syndrome!

On things beyond my control

The baby that I have plastered all over my blog lately was briefly hospitalized today… its ok, he is fine now, thank God…

He has actually been sick for a while, since september it seems, because my kindergartner comes home every week with foreign germs that he and his classmates generously share amongst themselves…

Early this morning I noticed that his chest was moving very rapidly, I woke up my husband and informed him of the situation, soliciting his opinions… he said “nothing to be worried about, just put him back to sleep!” or something like that…

5 hours later when we were talking to the nurse in emergency, I was asked “why I waited this long to bring him in?”... I, of course, rolled my eyes at the brave mousehunter and told him to pretend his kids were one of his precious “servers” from now on!

Now, we were in the hospital for about 3 hours only! They took him in right away, put him on the ventilator, got an x-tray and sent him home with a puffer! He was in good spirits by the afternoon (thank God).

My eldest, had pneumonia once… while I was on hospital bedrest, he picked up the infection while visiting me in the hospital, we believe… and now suffers from flu-induced asthma and also has puffers, so in true middle child spirit, my little middle child inquired about his puffer, and why he didn’t have one!

Lessons learnt… do not solicit advice from your spouse on baby health and safety matters, just trust your instincts!! And the middle child will always be the one that is left out!
