It was absolutely lovely meeting Khadija and her beautiful family. My husband and I had a wonderfully fun time with her kids (all 5 of them)
and of course, it made us miss our little ones, and thus, constantly talk about them! (sorry Khadija and Jamal)
My dry, ugly hands were for the first time, beautified with henna… Khadija is not only a very talented artist, but a very patient one, as sabr is definately required when working with me!
Two things I notice about the henna, besides the beauty… a) the smell is amazingly good, because she uses lavender oil, and b) I am fairly distracted during salat!

My husband (you remember him… the mouse-hunter!) had to come to Montréal on a business trip, so, I convinced him that it would be a good idea to take me along too!! Muhahahaha….
Poor grandma is babysitting, with the help of grandpa, and aunties… so that mommy and daddy can have some ‘quiet’ time!
So, it has been my observation thus far, that Montréal has a freakishly large number of Arab and Egyptian immigrants, and so far, no fake Indians, like myself!
I am visiting my friend Khadija today, whom I have never met in real life before, and so I am very excited!
Ok, this is all I can write for now, because my hubby is giving me some evil looks as I disturb is children-free slumber with my irritating habit of choosing my laptop over him!
Happy Sunday!!

A few days ago, we had a bit of a scary situation, but my husband showed me how brave he could be in the face of danger!
So, as I mentioned in that post, his weapon of choice was his mighty flashlight...
One morning we came downstairs and I said to my eldest son, “you know, I saw the mouse down here this morning, so be careful”, to which he replied, “don’t worry mommy, I’ll get my flashlight!”

My eldest is sleeping over at his grandma’s house, and my hubby went out (possibly to celebrate his victory over the mouse!), so I have the great job of taking care of a 2 year old and a 10 month old. As I write this, they are sitting here on the bed fighting with each other over a bowl from the kitchen, and the 2 year old is commanding the baby to go back into his crib!
The middle child, or better know as the son that suffers from middle child syndrome, is making his usually-neglected-but-very-loud-voice be heard today!
Me: [Flossing]
2 year old: Mommeeeeeeeee WHAT YOU EATING? MOMMEEEEEEEEEE?
Me: It’s floss baby
2 year old: Oh YEAAAAAAAAAAAA?
Me: [Brushing my teeth]
2 year old: Why you washing your hands and brushing your teeth, MOMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEE? WHY? WHY MOMMEEEEEEEEEEE? WHY?
Why people? Why are 2 year olds so curious? WHY? WHY PEOPLEEEEEEEE?
I think that’s why God made them so darn cute… because otherwise it could get annoying!

We have a mouse in the house! Yes! You read correctly!
Last night I went to bed about 4am, despite the fact that my 3 kids wake up at the crack of 7, because I was so scared of the mouse!
Ok, the mouse was in our room… apparently coming from a hole in the wall… and it ran under the baby’s crib, so, I grabbed the sleeping baby and brought him into our bed! Then, my valiant hubby decided to chase the mouse with a… FLASHLIGHT… actually, just with the light from the flashlight! Obviously, that did not work.
Now we have about 6 mouse traps all over the house, which, seems like not enough, because, THERE IS NO MOUSE IN ANY OF THEM!!!
Funny thing is that when I was growing up in Trinidad, we had a great variety of little creatures living with us… mice, cockroaches, lizards, little frogs… seriously, we did! And I don’t remember being as traumatized as I am now…I guess it could have been because my 8 year old self was more interested in playing tea-party outside with coconut shells and flower petals, or hosting my very own radio show from my room, or pretending that my sister and I were amazing concert artists!
My husband, who was born here in Canada, and apparently never had any encounters with household pests of this magnitude, has informed me that since this is “my area of expertise”, I should bring forward some solutions, instead of cowardly hiding behind him and his mighty flashlight!
